Finally!!
I can tell you guys that I have received my blog contest prize. Does anyone even still remember? These events took place last July! In case you don’t remember, my blog was nominated for best pregnancy blog (thanks to everyone that nominated and voted!!) and with lots of help from everyone – I won! (yaaay!) But I didn’t want to think about it or celebrate until I got my prize.
It turned out to be quite an ordeal!
After not hearing anything from anyone, I tried contacting the blog, the author of the blog and the website that the blog was attached to. Nothing ever came of that. So then we started doing research and found out – the website domain is registered to CBR – Cord Blood Registry. So we called them (when I say we – I’m talking about my wonderful husband that supports me in all my projects, no matter how crazy!), and the customer service guys had NO idea how to help us. And then, as luck would have it, there was a CBR booth at the Baby Fair! So we dropped by and talked to the representatives about our situation, they gave us business cards and took down our information because – they knew exactly who to give my details to. Afterwards we sent them a follow-up email, just to make sure they didn’t forget. A week later I received a call from a very nice lady who apologized profusely – you see, it turned out the person that managed the blog no longer worked with them, and the blog was no longer managed. However she said they did try to contact me but could not find my email address… She didn’t get the comments I tried to post in the blog because she didn’t have access to the email attached to that blog. Understandable, I guess, but horrible timing!
She took my information and said she would send it over to the accounting department right away.
A week later I emailed her to check on the status of things. She assured me they are working on it.
And so October passed. I tried pinging her again, and again… and again.. Hoping to get my winnings in time to buy some Christmas gifts. Nope.
Eventually I was contacted by a gentleman who said that lady no longer worked there, and he’s working on my case. After a couple of weeks he sent me the forms I needed to fill out, and a week or two later there was a FedEx envelope waiting for me with a big purple Thank You card thanking me for my patience and my prize-gift card inside!
I still can’t believe it, and can’t think of something special enough to put it towards just yet. But I want to thank all of you very very much for your votes! And I wanted you to know that it wasn’t for nothing! After all, without you – there is no point to my writing!!
